Subject line: The Fashion Shop. Irony-Soak
I’ve recently noticed how very long Fab.com’s subject lines have become. It seems that they want to cram all the contents of the email in there, even though they repeat the content’s description in their opening wording. Perhaps if they used Litmus’ very handy subject line checker they would realise that in all the email clients they check, the email gets cropped around 6-7 words.
By the way, I think it’s fine if you have the odd long subject line, though not as long as this one, but you should always get the key message content right upfront. And if in doubt, A/B test on a control group before you do a send.
